The price of a gallon of gasoline is too high in many American cities. Although it varies by state and area, there are some places where petrol costs more than $6 per gallon.

The crisis has gotten so bad that the American government is seeking to step in by offering Stimulus Checks. Thompson cited the invasion of Ukraine by Russia as the reason for rising prices. There are ideas for a gas stimulus to give Americans a break, similar to stimulus checks during the COVID pandemic. Sadly, the campaign failed to get sufficient support in Congress, and as a result, the proposal is still in limbo. Congress could be reluctant to enact another package because it is still feeling the impacts of the COVID stimulus.

Certain States Will Send Gas Rebate Stimulus Check

The Gas Rebate Act of 2022 stipulates that selected Americans would get a $100 stimulus check for each month of the year that the average national gas price hits $4 per gallon. Additionally, you can receive an extra $100 if you have dependents.

Depending on your income, there can be a sliding scale where those making less than $75,000 per year get the whole $100. You will get a smaller rebate if your income is higher than that.

According to the proposed legislation, the payment would be determined as follows: $100 up to $80,000 for single filers income less than $75,000 per year. Joint filers making less than $150,000 annually will get a $100 Stimulus Check; after that, the tax phaseout begins at $160,000. Despite the fact that the hoped-for Gas Rebate Act of 2022 has not yet been put into effect, certain states have nonetheless unveiled their relief measures.

Several states have proposed a gas tax holiday as a means of easing the burden and bringing down expenses. For instance, the 13 percent sales tax on petrol has been temporarily lifted in California and five other states.
