The last year saw quite a few families entitled to the Stimulus check money under the American Rescue Plan Act. The relief legislation under COVID-19 did authorize the IRS to put out a payment for the funds that were legislated to help families.

The help would be doled out through depositing the money into the bank accounts of people over the course of the year. Although the payments were delivered over time and not during the season of tax filing, each of the payments was actually an advance on a tax credit that was authorized by Congress.

Stimulus Check Refund Delivered by the IRS

This entailed that anyone who didn’t receive the stimulus check money can now claim the tax credits just like anyone else- by filing a 1040 form during the tax season. As it stands, millions of American families are still owed payments, especially those who haven’t yet filed their recent tax returns, and those who added new dependents in the last year. Incidentally, the IRS has also started accepting tax returns that should be filed to obtain this stimulus money.

The IRS has also pushed out a news alert that would remind people about how they should be checking the status of their refunds in order to find out when the stimulus check payments and other refunded payments would be arriving. The recent news release from the IRS also saw two different tools that taxpayers would be used to track the status of their tax refunds.

When your e-file returns, you will be able to check the status of your stimulus check refund as soon as 24 hours after the forms that have been submitted and further received by the IRS.
