If you were expecting a second stimulus check in November, there’s no need to worry — you’re not alone. In fact, millions of Americans are still waiting to receive the first payment they were due this year.
Did you know about the Stimulus Check 2022? It’s a one-time payment of $600 to low-income households who meet certain eligibility requirements. In November, residents in 48 states and Washington, D.C., will receive their checks if they’re considered eligible, but there are some states that haven’t decided yet whether they’ll continue with the program this year.
If you live in Hawaii or Mississippi, you’re out of luck: Neither state is sending out stimulus checks this fall. A spokesperson for the Department of Commerce told GOBankingRates that while both states still have active programs on file with the U.S. Treasury Department (which oversees stimulus payments), neither has submitted an application for funds since October 2017 — meaning there won’t be any payments issued by either state anytime soon.
Stimulus Check Finance Approaching
It’s hard to believe that two years have already passed since Americans were first able to claim their stimulus checks. If you remember, this was the first time in U.S. history that Americans had been given checks as part of an economic recovery package—and it was controversial at the time!
Now, we’re headed into 2022 and people are wondering whether they’ll be receiving another check this year.
The IRS is targeting another 20 million people who file electronically but do not have direct deposit information available with the agency and therefore cannot receive their stimulus checks via direct deposit.
Consequently, these taxpayers will need to wait until they receive their check in the mail. It’s estimated that this process could take four to six weeks.
