An income program in the state of Minneapolis has already processed its next stimulus check payment to the recipients today. The payment, which was to be sent on the 30th of June, is considered to be a part of the Minneapolis Guaranteed Basic Income Pilot Program, which began in June 2022. This payment program will pay the recipients a monthly cash payment till June 2024. Around two-hundred households have already been selected to receive the payments through this program, and they will all be able to spend the payment of $500 in whichever way they deem fit, according to the city website.
Stimulus Check Payment Coming In For Minneapolis
The manager for the project informed the Washington Examiner that the stimulus check payments for the program would be processed on the 20th of every month, with every participant receiving around $500 every month. The program is also being evaluated by the Federal Reserve Bank of Minneapolis. In order to be eligible for this program, an applicant had to be around 18 years old by 1st June 2022, with an annual income at or under 50% of the area median income for Minneapolis, and live in one of the many zip codes that have been specified by the program.
Also, the applicants for the stimulus check payment had to have been affected by the pandemic. The qualifying effects for this pandemic payment include having higher health expenses, losing a job, or losing all access to child care. Interestingly, a majority of the recipients of the program are either indigenous, black or they are people of color. The other recipients are either white or non-Hispanic. Additionally, 69% of the program’s recipients are women, and 42.5% of all recipients are between the ages of 30 and 39.
