The lawmakers in Minnesota caught themselves in an unique position where they are now on a vast budget surplus. They are currently trying to figure out how can they spend that budget. Last January, the governor of the state of Minnesota announced his plan and he promised his taxpayers a generous tax rebate. However, this is not all of it. As a part of Minnesota’s plan to help the taxpayers of the state, they will receive the rebate stimulus check of twenty-six hundred dollars.

Who are eligible?

People who are already earning seventy-five thousand dollars annually, will get another thousand rupees added in their banks. The married tax filers who are currently earning 150k dollars will get a 2grand USD additional stimulus check payments.

Added to these services, parents are also going to get two hundred dollars in rebate for each of their children. These will take the stimulus check rebate for families with two children to twenty-four hundred dollars.

Proposed features of stimulus check:

This new 2-year budget includes reduction in state taxes, legalized marijuana, 1.1billion for the CTC, 670mns granted for a paid medical leave and family program, and 458million dollars allocated to make the state carbon free by 2040. There are more funds allocated on education, and increased the vehicle tab fees as well.

Who support these plans and who don’t:

2nd-term governor Walz is a part of the Democratic-Farmer-Labor Party, a party connected to the DFL. The DFL now controls the majority of seats in the state legislation, and Walz seems to have a significant amount of support from DFL voters.

Republicans who believe that a large portion of the state’s excess should be used to lower taxes are less pleased. The governor’s proposal has not received much support from the Minnesota Chamber of Commerce, notably those newly proposed levies.
