As part of a program to support first responders, thousands of Americans will receive $1,000 bonus checks next week.
During an event last week in Jacksonville, where he presented a few first responders with their stimulus payments, Governor Ron DeSantis spoke about the funds made available under Florida’s Essential First Responders Recognition Program. The governor also mentioned that this additional check would be given to about 100,000 Floridians.
Florida’s Division of Economic Opportunity outlined the requirements to qualify for this $1,000 incentive check.
To qualify as an essential first responder, the person must work for a local authority as a sworn law enforcement officer, fireman, paramedic, emergency medical technician, or EMT.
Stimulus Check And Who All Are Eligible?
The amount changes depending on how many hours the person works each week, and the checks will start arriving next week.
Checks are written out for more than the total amount to account for the taxes deducted from the payment. A $1,000 stimulus check will be issued to an employee who works at least 40 hours per week.
Those who put in at least 30 hours a week receive a recognition payment of $750, while those who put in at least 20 hours a week receive a stimulus check for $500.
Lastly, individuals who put in at least 10 hours every week will receive a $250 recognition reward.
Governor DeSantis stated that these incentives are a reflection of their appreciation for the work that they perform and the sacrifices that they make to keep Florida safe.
