Several Americans are waiting for their stimulus check and tax refund to arrive at their doorsteps but they should not expect it to arrive today.

The reason is that there is no mail service on President’s Day.

Your local post office and couriers will be completely out of service as stated by the US Postal Service holiday calendars.

You can the USPS open their doors tomorrow on February 22,  just like on other days.

The only service that will still run on President’s Day is the Priority Express Mail, which runs all through the year.

This might be unfortunate for several people but tax returns and stimulus checks are not a priority on the federal holiday list.

Stimulus checks were also not sent out on Veterans Day, Martin Luther King Day, and Columbus Day for the same reasons.

Latest Stimulus Check News

The latest checks that were sent out were worth up to $1,400.

The fourth check is still unlikely but millions of people are still owed. This includes the city and state stimulus along with the federal ones.

For example, California’s public affairs office told The Sun earlier this month that the state-issued nearly 139,000 stimulus checks via mail and direct deposit on January 28.

It’s unclear if the state has sent out more stimulus checks since then.

The payments are under two stimulus programs: the Golden State Stimulus I and Golden State Stimulus II.

These payments are worth up to $1,200 and $1,100, respectively.

Plus, there are various cities and states offering universal basic income – a set of recurring payments that individuals get from the government.
