On Monday, Strategy, under the leadership of Michael Saylor, reported the acquisition of 6,911 Bitcoin between March 17 and March 23 at an average cost of $84,529 per coin. As a result, the company now holds approximately 506,000 BTC, valued at about $44.4 billion based on current market valuations.

As per a recent SEC filing, Strategy utilized the funds from its “Common ATM” and “STRK ATM” initiatives to finance the latest Bitcoin purchase.

From March 17 to March 23, Strategy sold 1,975,000 shares of its Class A common stock, generating net proceeds of approximately $592 million, along with 13,100 shares of its 8.00% Series A perpetual strike preferred stock, resulting in over $1 million in net proceeds.

This acquisition follows the firm’s announcement that it will issue 8.5 million shares of its ‘Series A Perpetual Strife Preferred Stock,’ an increase from the initially anticipated 5 million. The offering is aimed at financing further Bitcoin purchases and enhancing working capital requirements.

The Series A Perpetual Preferred Stock offers a 10% annual dividend rate, payable quarterly in cash. Any unpaid dividends accrue quarterly at increasing rates, up to a maximum of 18% annually. This arrangement allows Strategy to raise funds without diluting the voting rights of its common shareholders.

The stock offering has been underwritten by prominent financial institutions, including Morgan Stanley, Moelis & Co., Citigroup Global Markets, and Barclays Capital.

Since its inaugural Bitcoin purchase in 2020, Strategy has consistently increased its holdings, solidifying its status as the largest publicly traded corporate holder of Bitcoin.

In spite of Bitcoin’s notorious price volatility, the company’s stake has appreciated by 32%, reflecting an unrealized gain of over $10.6 billion.
