Apple is set to launch its annual Swift Student Challenge once again this year, with entries opening in less than a month and running for a limited time of three weeks. Here are the specifics.
350 winners will be chosen, with 50 invited for a three-day experience in Cupertino
Apple hosts the Swift Student Challenge each year to inspire and recognize the talent and creativity of student developers.
According to Apple’s website:
Apple is honored to support and uplift the future generation of developers, creators, and entrepreneurs through the Swift Student Challenge. This initiative has provided countless student developers an avenue to showcase their imagination and coding skills via app playgrounds, while acquiring valuable skills they can carry into their careers and beyond.
This year, Apple intends to select a total of 350 winners whose submissions reflect “excellence in innovation, creativity, social impact, or inclusivity.”
From those 350, a select group of 50 will be distinguished as ‘Distinguished Winners’ and will be invited for a three-day experience in Cupertino, likely coinciding with WWDC 2025.
The 2025 Swift Student Challenge will start accepting applications on Monday, February 3, and the application window will close three weeks later.
To help participants prepare, Apple is inviting both students and educators to join an upcoming online session where further details about the requirements will be shared, alongside tips and inspiration from a previous Challenge winner and much more.
Last year’s Distinguished Winners had the opportunity to meet with Apple CEO Tim Cook at Apple Park prior to the WWDC opening. So, if you’re looking for some extra motivation, a photo opportunity with the CEO could be on the horizon.
