Owatonna, MN (KROC-AM News)- A teenage driver was transported to a hospital after crashing his vehicle into a holding pond at an interchange in southeast Minnesota.
He was the sole occupant of the vehicle.
The State Patrol arrived at the scene of the single-vehicle accident shortly before 11:15 PM Wednesday.
Teen Boy Hospitalized After Driving Pickup Truck into Holding Pond at Owatonna, MN Interchange
The incident occurred at the Hwy. 14/Hwy. 218 South interchange in Owatonna.
According to the state crash report, the teenager was headed north on Hwy. 218 when the pickup truck he was operating veered off the road and collided with a holding pond near Hwy. 14.
Authorities report that the driver is a 17-year-old boy. Following the crash, he was taken to a hospital in Owatonna, according to the State Patrol.
The state crash report does not indicate whether the boy sustained any injuries. His name and hometown have not been disclosed.
The 17-year-old was wearing a seatbelt, as noted by the State Patrol. The Mayo Clinic Ambulance, Steele County Sheriff’s Office, Owatonna Police Department, and Owatonna Fire Department also responded to the scene of the single-vehicle crash.
