Leica is renowned for its stunning, minimalist cameras and exceptional lenses that often come with price tags that suggest if you’re asking, it’s probably beyond your budget.
This new Leica LUX grip for iPhone undoubtedly meets the criteria for stunning aesthetics – but it also comes with the distinctive Leica price tag…
A Leica camera body typically ranges from $1600 to over $5k, with lenses reaching nearly five figures.
By those standards, a price of $329 might seem quite reasonable for a Leica item – yet it remains quite surprising considering you’re essentially purchasing just a grip for your iPhone.
To be fair, it appears to be a very nice grip, featuring a MagSafe mount that accommodates both landscape and portrait orientations, a two-stage mechanical shutter release, two customizable function buttons, and a rotary setting dial. Additionally, it includes a one-year subscription to the Leica LUX Pro app, which promises to give your iPhone photos a Leica-like flair.
However, once that year lapses, renewing the subscription will cost you $69.99 annually – and you’ll need this to keep using the app. Yes, the grip is exclusively compatible with the Leica app!
The Leica LUX Grip is designed to work only with the Leica LUX app. You cannot utilize the grip with the pre-installed iPhone camera app.
The grip also comes with a stylish leather carrying case, featuring an AirTag holder to help prevent misplacement, but this will set you back an additional $50.
If none of this deters you, it will soon be available for purchase on Leica’s website.
