While Telegram verification has previously been accessible to public figures and organizations, the platform is now introducing a system that permits accounts to be validated by third-party entities…
Current Telegram Verification Process
The current method for validating your Telegram account involves being a recognized public figure or organization. Notability is determined by providing links to at least two articles about you from reputable, English-language sources, alongside verifying your identity by including a Telegram link in the bio on at least two different platforms:
- TikTok
- YouTube
- VK
- Snapchat
Third-Party Verification on Telegram
Given that many organizations manage multiple Telegram accounts, the messaging platform now allows organizations that are already verified to authenticate additional accounts they operate.
Accounts verified by a third party will be marked with a new logo beside their names instead of the traditional blue checkmark.
“This decentralized verification system aims to thwart scams and curb misinformation, introducing an innovative proactive approach that sets new safety standards for social media platforms,” Telegram stated in a blog post.
Individuals or organizations wishing to be verified must first establish their authenticity and submit an application to be eligible for the verified designation. Telegram has indicated that entities can utilize its Bot API to grant or revoke verification status.
For instance, a verified DMN account would be able to verify each of its writers, thus earning a DMN logo alongside their names. The name of the verifying organization will also be displayed.
