This Unique Feature Distinguishes These MagSafe Battery Packs from the Competition

At this stage, exploring MagSafe battery packs seems to be my newfound hobby. I’ve experimented with compact variants, thicker models, multifunctional options, Qi2 iterations, as well as those equipped with stands and fans; you name it, I’ve probably tested it. While some battery packs have proven to be excellent with their unique features, there’s one capability that the original Apple MagSafe Battery pack possessed, which has been absent in other brands—until now.

Don’t forget to check out our hands-on video review below!

iOS Integration Feature

One of the standout features of the Apple MagSafe battery pack, arguably the best, was its seamless recognition by your iOS device. When you attached the battery to the back of your phone, a distinct animation appeared on your lock screen. After unlocking, the battery pack would show up in your battery widget, as seen in the example below.

When Apple transitioned to USB-C for its iPhones and accessories, it phased out its original MagSafe battery pack. Consequently, third-party power banks lacked this kind of integration—until Kuxiu launched their new S1 and K1 MagSafe battery packs, which unexpectedly come with this functionality!

Both battery packs boast this fantastic integration feature, but there are several differences worth noting.

Kuxiu K1 3-in-1 Power Bank

This model is particularly intriguing due to its multifunctionality and striking design. As indicated by its name, this power bank is a 3-in-1 solution. It can charge your iPhone and Apple Watch simultaneously while also serving as a kickstand. An added bonus is that both the MagSafe charging slot and the Apple Watch charger can recharge your AirPods Pro, allowing you to power all three devices using a single power bank. Here are the specifications:

  • 5000mAh power bank
  • Qi2 15W magnetic charging
  • 5W charging for Apple Watch
  • 20W wired in and out charging
  • Kickstand for both portrait and landscape orientation
  • Weight: 182g
  • Integration with iOS widget

I particularly appreciate its frosted glass finish, which closely resembles the material of your iPhone—making it feel quite premium. This power bank is available in two colors: Black and Desert Titanium, retailing at $69.99.

Kuxiu S1 5000mAh Power Bank

This alternative power bank shares the same impressive integration, but unlike the K1, it’s just a straightforward power bank without a kickstand or Apple Watch charger. It embodies the essence of a premium, well-constructed Qi2 power bank. Here’s a breakdown of its specifications:

  • 5000mAh power bank
  • Qi2 15W magnetic charging
  • 20W wired in and out charging
  • Weight: 145g
  • iOS widget integration
  • Frosted glass construction

Interestingly, you might expect this model to be priced lower given its simplicity, yet it is actually $10 more expensive. The reason lies in its use of solid-state materials. This is quite new to me, but here are some advantages of solid-state batteries compared to traditional lithium batteries:

  • Solid electrolyte (ceramic, glass, polymer)
  • Safer and non-flammable
  • Higher energy density (longer battery life and more compact design)
  • Extended lifespan with more charge cycles
  • Available performance in extreme temperatures
  • Greater resistance to wear and damage

A video on the Kuxiu S1 product page puts the battery through extreme conditions, demonstrating its resilience. Throughout my two weeks of use, it has consistently remained cool to the touch. This power bank also comes in black and natural titanium color options, with a price tag of $79.99.

Final Thoughts and Availability

Interestingly, I find myself gravitating towards the simpler S1 as I appreciate its thinner and lighter profile while still delivering the same charging capacity. The K1 is advantageous for weekend getaways, providing the convenience of charging multiple devices simultaneously. With its premium materials, iOS widget integration, and multifunctionality, these battery packs have quickly become my top recommendations. Both are currently available on Kuxiu’s website, priced at $69 for the K1 and $79 for the S1.

What are your thoughts? Would you consider using one of these? Are you a fan of the design? Is the iOS integration something you find desirable? Let’s chat in the comments!
