President Trump has put forth a nomination for an Apple executive to lead the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).
Jonathan Morrison (not to be confused with the popular YouTuber) has previously held the position of chief counsel at the NHTSA during the initial Trump presidency. Since 2021, he has been a part of Apple.
According to the Senate:
Jonathan Morrison, hailing from California, is nominated to be the Administrator of the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, succeeding Steven Scott Cliff, who resigned.
The nomination was received yesterday and is set to be reviewed by the Committee on Commerce, Science, and Transportation.
While Morrison’s LinkedIn profile lacks detailed information about his role at Apple, it could be inferred that he dealt with policy matters linked to Apple’s now-abandoned autonomous vehicle initiative.
Prior to this, Morrison actively lobbied for automotive dealerships, advocating for various policy measures.
