The residents of two states can still apply to get the stimulus check worth $1,400 which they have missed or did not get for some reason. The majority of the Americans lost their opportunity to get back their last stimulus check approved by the Federal Government as the last date of filing the tax return passed on 18th April. However, two states namely Maine and Massachusetts still got a day to file their income tax returns.

Maine And Massachusetts Got Another Day To Claim Stimulus Check Payments

In 2022, the final day of filing the income tax fell on the 18th of April after considering a few holidays. However, for the residents of Maine and Massachusetts, the 18th of April was marked with Patriot’s Day due to which the deadline was extended for another day.

This reclaiming can give the eligible residents some cash which was the motive as per the American Rescue Plan authorized by Joe Biden, the President of America. The residents who did not get the stimulus check can claim the money from the Recovery Rebate Credit.

The final amount of the stimulus check can be checked by reviewing the online account of the IRS which is made particularly for every individual. People can also check the letter that has been given by the IRS. These letters were distributed by them in January and consist of Letter 6475.

The letter gives the aggregate amount a taxpayer has received in the previous year so that they can file the income tax properly and quickly. The total amount can also be found on the Form 1040 worksheet of Recovery Rebate Credit or the tax online program.

The people who predicted that they will have difficulty filling the tax within the 18th of April should have filled out Form 4868 which gives an extension of six months. To be eligible for this stimulus check, individuals must have an annual earning of less than $75,000 and joint filers with income less than $150,000.
