Rachel Hargrove, the chef of Below Deck, recently called out Tyra Banks who referred to her as the plus size model.
This incident took place when she auditioned for America’s Next Top Model back in 2005. The 40-year-old took to Twitter to put up an unflattering photo of Banks, who recently turned 48, along with a mocking caption. The tweet of this celebrity definitely ruffled a few fans, who stated that while she felt body-shamed, she turned around and body-shamed someone else. As a response, Hargrove maintained that several members of America’s Next Top Model had reached out to her, who spoke about how the show resulted in them having body dysmorphic disorders. She also stated that the show as well as Banks needed to take accountability for the behavior they had displayed on the competition show.

One follower pointed out that the comment on her body was actually made by Jay Manuel, and not Tyra Banks. The 49-year-old judge had mentioned that Hargrove represented more of plus size. Hargrove was featured on the fourth season of America’s Next Top Model, after a casting director went ahead and approached her for the show while she was still working as a bartender in Florida, back in 2005. Speaking to Entertainment Tonight in January 2021, Hargrove mentioned that she was quite surprised at this turn of events. She thought that she was being introduced to this show due to her personality- but she still ended up having quite a lot of fun.
Tyra Banks’ fluctuating weight has been the subject of much criticism over the years. Speaking on the Today show back in April, she stated that she found it quite empowering to be this curvy at her age. Also, she hasn’t put forward any comments regarding Hargrove’s tweet.
