Uber has appointed a new head of human resources, following the contentious departure of the previous HR leader nearly three months ago.
Nikki Krishnamurthy is set to take over from Liane Hornsey, who resigned from Uber in early July after an internal probe regarding her management of racial discrimination allegations within the organization, the company announced on Tuesday.
Previously, Krishnamurthy was employed at Expedia as its chief people officer, where she collaborated with Uber CEO Dara Khosrowshahi. Khosrowshahi himself led Expedia for ten years prior to joining Uber last August.
In his statement, Khosrowshahi referred to Krishnamurthy as a “trusted partner” who will aid in the “evolution of our culture.”
This appointment signifies another significant hire under Khosrowshahi, who has been entrusted with reforming the company’s corporate culture.
Uber has confronted a series of scandals, including pervasive claims of gender and sexual harassment that resulted in co-founder Travis Kalanick’s resignation as CEO in June 2017.
Krishnamurthy, who will hold the title of chief people officer, will be in charge of Uber’s human resources, recruiting, workplace, and diversity and inclusion teams. She will officially begin her role on October 8.
