Report: Apple Introduces New Recycling Program with Discounts up to on AirPods and Additional Accessories

As reported by Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, Apple plans to introduce a new trade-in promotion at its retail locations this week. According to Gurman, customers can expect a 10% discount (up to $20) on new Apple accessories such as AirPods, AirTags, and Apple Pencil when they recycle an item that isn’t traditionally eligible for trade-in credit.

This offer appears to be strategically aligned with Earth Day, which is observed on April 22 this week.

Apple is known for its commitment to environmental sustainability and typically accepts various old electronics for free recycling. The devices in question are those not eligible for trade-in credit and do not need to be from Apple. This promotion will provide a monetary incentive for recycling these items.

Gurman indicates that customers can take advantage of this limited-time promotion to receive discounts on purchases of new AirPods, AirTags, Apple Pencil, Apple Watch bands, Magic Keyboard, Magic Mouse, Magic Trackpad, and iPhone cases.

We will await Apple’s official announcement regarding this new sales promotion before sharing complete details on how to qualify for the discount.

Any sales promotion from Apple Stores is significant, as they occur infrequently. Typically, Apple runs promotions mainly during Black Friday and Cyber Monday, where customers can earn a gift card with select purchases.
