At one of Wanda Sykes’ comedy concerts, a fan nearly passed out from laughter due to her incredible comic abilities.
The 58-year-old said one of the wildest experiences on the stand-up stage occurred during a recent gig in Memphis, Tennessee, during an appearance on The Late Late Show with James Corden on February 27. The performance was going well until she heard shouts from this side of the stage. “What the heck is going on, I ask. You need a paramedic, they said.”
Wanda Sykes’ Legendary Humor
According to Wanda Sykes, who presently acts in The Upshaws on Netflix, “This man was reportedly… They drank copiously. Alcohol is usually a factor. He was laughing so hard that he vomited, choked on his vomit, and then he puked.”
“Now that must’ve been a hilarious joke,” observed Joel McHale, who was a guest on the show. Sykes said that a medical team arrived, and happily, he made a full recovery. Chrysippus of Soli, a Greek Stoic philosopher, is said to have passed away after laughing at a donkey eating a fig. Dying from laughter is not unheard of.
He passed away in 230 BC. Alex Mitchell, a 50-year-old bricklayer from England, passed away from laughter while watching television in 1975. Sykes reported that the man who had choked required “work on” from the medical staff.
There is always a compelling tale to tell at the star. She described an occasion when, at a White House Correspondents’ dinner, she “shushed” former First Lady Michelle Obama. Wanda Sykes told PEOPLE that participating in the White House Correspondents’ Association dinner in 2009 more than prepared her for hosting Hollywood’s greatest night, the Academy Awards, which she did with Amy Schumer and Regina Hall this spring.
