Update 4/1/25: The official release of watchOS 11.4 is now available for all users.
Update 3/31/25: Initially marked as released on Apple’s website, the watchOS 11.4 update has been removed. The timeline for its return remains unclear.
Apple has launched watchOS 11.4 for Apple Watch users. While this update may not be major, it brings several new features along with an important bug fix. Here’s what to expect.
New Alarm Option, Emoji, and More Arrive in watchOS 11.4
While Apple Watch updates may not be as extensive as those for iOS and iPadOS, each new feature has its significance.
watchOS 11.4 introduces the following features and improvements:
- Integration of Matter-compatible robot vacuums, allowing users to add them to the Home app and use them in scenes or automations, or simply command, “Siri, clean the living room.”
- An option for the Sleep Wake Up alarm to bypass Silent Mode.
- Seven new emojis added to the emoji keyboard.
- A fix for an issue where selecting watch faces could become unresponsive.
Support for Matter-compatible robotic vacuums and the new emojis are part of Apple’s broader updates today, including iOS 18.4.
However, the new Sleep Wake Up alarm feature is a unique addition exclusive to watchOS.
This feature allows users to keep their Apple Watch in Silent Mode while still receiving audible alarms, marking a significant enhancement.
As someone who typically uses their Watch in Silent Mode to keep notifications discreet, being able to wake up with an audible alarm is a welcomed improvement.
