watchOS 11.4 Released with Three New Features for Apple Watch [Update: Withdrawn]

Update: Initially, watchOS 11.4 was listed as available on Apple’s website, but it has since been removed. The timeline for its return remains unclear.

Apple has officially rolled out watchOS 11.4 for Apple Watch users. Although this update isn’t particularly large, it introduces a few additional features along with an important bug fix. Here’s a summary of what’s new.

New Alarm Option, Emoji, and Additional Features in watchOS 11.4

While Apple Watch updates may not be as substantial as those for iOS or iPadOS, every new enhancement makes a difference.

In watchOS 11.4, users can look forward to the following new features and improvements:

  • Compatibility with Matter-enabled robot vacuum cleaners, which can now be added to the Home app and utilized in scenes or automations. You can even say, “Siri, clean the living room.”
  • A new option for the Sleep Wake Up alarm to bypass Silent Mode
  • Seven fresh emojis added to the emoji keyboard
  • A fix for an issue where face selection could become unresponsive during face switching

The additions of Matter-compatible vacuum support and new emojis are also featured in Apple’s concurrent updates, such as iOS 18.4.

The new Sleep Wake Up alarm feature is exclusive to watchOS.

This enhancement, detailed further here, allows users to keep their Apple Watch in Silent Mode while still receiving audible alarm notifications for the first time.

Personally, I often keep my Watch in Silent Mode for haptic-only notifications, so having the option to still wake up to an audible alarm is a great new capability.
