On Thursday, WhatsApp unveiled another update for its users. Starting today, the app will offer various chat theme options for both iOS and Android platforms, allowing users to personalize their chats with “vibrant chat bubbles and fresh wallpapers.”
Introducing Chat Themes on WhatsApp
“You asked for it, and here it is! We’re excited to introduce chat themes, enabling you to make your chats distinctly yours with vibrant chat bubbles and new wallpapers,” the company stated.
While altering the WhatsApp wallpaper was already an option prior to this update, the new features take customization to the next level with themes. Users can now alter the colors of chat bubbles, offering “numerous options to choose from.” There are preset themes that modify both backgrounds and bubbles, but customization can be done for each element separately.
Regarding wallpapers, users have the choice of 30 new wallpaper options or the ability to upload their own background from their photo library.
Users can either apply the same theme across all chats or set different themes for individual conversations. It’s important to note that WhatsApp themes are only visible to the user; others will not see the chosen theme. Themes are applicable to both chats and channels.
To change your WhatsApp theme, simply open the app and navigate to Settings > Chats > Default Chat Theme.
WhatsApp has announced that this feature is currently being rolled out to users and will be available globally over the next few weeks. The application is free to download from the App Store. Ensure that you have the latest version of the app to access these new features.
