When Will I Receive My SSI Check for March? Complete 2025 Payment Schedule Included

Some Social Security beneficiaries may notice their payments arriving at an unusual time – but there’s no need for concern – this is due to the alignment of dates on the benefit program’s calendar.

For the majority of recipients, Social Security payments are distributed monthly on Wednesdays. If your birthdate falls between the 1st and the 10th of the month, your payment will be issued on the second Wednesday of that month; for those born between the 11th and the 20th, payments are made on the third Wednesday, and so forth, as per the Social Security Administration’s calendar.

However, this month, those who receive Supplemental Security Income (SSI) will see their payment for March 2025 on February 28.

Typically, SSI benefits are distributed on the first of the month. But when the first day occurs on a weekend (which it does in March) or a federal holiday, payments are disbursed early.

A few recipients follow a slightly different payment schedule. For individuals who began receiving Social Security benefits before May 1997, payments are made on the 3rd of the month, according to the agency’s calendar. Additionally, for those receiving both Social Security and SSI, their SSI payment is issued on the 1st and Social Security on the 3rd.

Monthly SSI benefit payments are provided to approximately 7.4 million Americans who may be disabled or possess limited resources. About one-third of SSI recipients also receive Social Security benefits.

SSI Payment Calendar: Additional Quirks Ahead

Checks for Supplemental Security Income will be distributed on the following dates in 2025, per the SSA calendar.

  • Friday, February 28, 2025 (Payment for March 2025)
  • Tuesday, April 1, 2025 (Payment for April 2025)
  • Thursday, May 1, 2025 (Payment for May 2025)
  • Friday, May 30, 2025 (Payment for June 2025)
  • Tuesday, July 1, 2025 (Payment for July 2025)
  • Friday, August 1, 2025 (Payment for August 2025)
  • Friday, August 29, 2025 (Payment for September 2025)
  • Wednesday, October 1, 2025 (Payment for October 2025)
  • Friday, October 31, 2025 (Payment for November 2025)
  • Monday, December 1, 2025 (Payment for December 2025)
  • Wednesday, December 31, 2025 (Payment for January 2026)

SSI recipients will receive their March 2025 payment on February 28, alongside their April 2025 payment on April 1, as outlined in the 2025 SSA calendar. This implies that SSI recipients will not get a payment during the month of March.

Since the vast majority, 99%, of beneficiaries receive payments electronically, the March 2025 SSI payment should be credited on Friday, February 28. The Social Security Administration advises if a payment is not received on the specified date, to wait three additional mailing days before reaching out to the agency.

In May, SSI recipients will receive two checks: the May payment on May 1 and the June payment on May 30, adhering to the SSA calendar. Much like March, SSI beneficiaries will not receive a payment in the month of June.

Again in August, SSI recipients will receive two checks – with the August payment on August 1 and the September payment on August 29 – but there will be no payment issued in the month of September.

What is SSI?

Supplemental Security Income is a financial aid program for individuals aged 65 or older with limited income or resources, those who are blind, or individuals with a qualifying disability. Children with a qualifying disability may also qualify for SSI, as detailed on the SSA’s website.

In general, adults who qualify for SSI do not earn more than $2,019 from employment monthly.

If you or someone you know might be eligible for SSI, you can start the application process online, in person at your local Social Security office, or by calling 1-800-772-1213 (TTY 1-800-325-0778) between 8:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m. local time during the work week.
