The Food Network has identified the most delightful small-town eatery in each state, with California’s selection being an Italian restaurant in La Jolla.
Ambrogio15 Pacific Beach, located at 926 Turquoise Street, Suite H, is renowned for its pizzas crafted with exclusively high-quality imported Italian ingredients and locally sourced produce, as stated on its website.
According to the Food Network, “Ambrogio15 Pacific Beach is an undiscovered treasure that deserves recognition.” Managed by Michelin-starred chef Silvio Salmoiraghi and chef Choi Cheolhyeok, this restaurant puts a modern twist on Italian cuisine, showcasing flavors inspired by Milan.
While some cities on the list may not embody the small-town charm, La Jolla, with a population of around 40,000, still secured a spot on the Food Network’s recommendations.
Other “small town” selections featured the café Elvie’s in Jackson, Mississippi, which has a population exceeding 153,000; the restaurant Everest in Rapid City, South Dakota, which hosts nearly 75,700 residents; and Culaccino in Franklin, Tennessee, home to approximately 83,400 people.

What can you find on Ambrogio15’s menu?
The pizza menu presents three distinctive dough options: a unique dough made with a wheat flour blend for a paper-thin crust, whole wheat stone-ground, and a gluten-free variant incorporating a combination of white and brown rice flour with herb seasonings.
Pizza offerings include a $15 marinara (vegan); a $19 Margherita; and a $26 La Favorita featuring mozzarella di bufala, filet mignon “carpaccio,” parmigiano sauce, sweet and sour vanilla red onions, and arugula.
Freshly shaved black truffles can be added to pizzas for an additional $19.
As reported on the restaurant’s site, Ambrogio15 Pacific Beach has been acknowledged as the Best Pizza in San Diego by San Diego Magazine, San Diego Union-Tribune, and Ranch & Coast Magazine.
According to the restaurant, “This accolade affirms our dedication to providing an outstanding dining experience and top-notch Milano-inspired pizza.”
