Samsung Developing Galaxy S25 ‘Slim’ to Rival iPhone Air

Recent speculations indicate that Apple might be developing a remarkably thin variant of the iPhone for the upcoming year, potentially dubbed the “iPhone 17 Slim” or “iPhone 17 Air.” Although we are nearly a year away from its official release, Samsung appears to be advancing its plans to unveil a Galaxy S25 “Slim.”

Samsung aims for a ‘Slim’ offering to rival iPhone Air

SmartPrix recently acquired information regarding the SM-S937, an enigmatic variant of Samsung’s Galaxy S25. The site elaborates that the model identifiers for the successors to the Galaxy S24, S24+, and S24 Ultra have already leaked, and this additional fourth identifier implies that the series will introduce an extra model, expanding beyond the three previously known versions.

Last month, a report surfaced stating that Samsung is indeed crafting a “Slim” iteration of the Galaxy S25, set to debut alongside the other devices in the S25 lineup next year. While details remain unclear on just how much thinner this new Galaxy phone will be, it seems Samsung is eager to outpace Apple in the competition for the slimmest smartphone of 2025.

Multiple sources suggest that Apple is planning to replace the current “Plus” variant of the iPhone with this ultra-slim edition next year. Rumors indicate that this device could feature a single rear camera and a reduced cut-out for the front camera and sensors situated behind the Dynamic Island. The anticipated iPhone 17 Air is expected to position itself between the standard iPhone 17 and the iPhone 17 Pro.

Moreover, the iPhone 17 Air is likely to be one of the inaugural iPhone models equipped with Apple’s new custom 5G modem, alongside the iPhone SE 4. However, a recent report pointed out that Apple is encountering challenges in achieving a super-slim design, implying that the final product may not be as thin as originally thought.

Currently, the iPhone 17 series is projected to be unveiled and made available in September 2025. As is customary, this timeline might be subject to change due to production or supply chain hurdles.

It’s crucial to keep in mind that with several months remaining until the announcement of the iPhone 17 lineup, there’s a possibility that Apple’s strategies could shift.
