The big Windows 10 October update launch is right around the corner and we cannot wait anymore. This is the second update to the latest Windows 10 in 2020. Microsoft announced that work on the new Windows 10 October Update is now complete and the “final build” is already out for testing.
Brandon LeBlanc, Windows Chief mentioned on a post on the Windows blog that the Windows 10 October Update for 2020 is “ready for release.” The version is named 20H2. The final build, 19042.508 (KB4571756), writes Windows Chief Brandon, is released to Windows Insiders in the Release Preview Channel. The 19042.508 is supposed to remain the final build but Microsoft plans on improving the overall experience a little more for better user experience.
Windows 10 October Update 2020 To Arrive Next Month
The October updates will be open to downloads by the next month after the launch the Windows 10 updates. This new Windows 10 has been in testing with Insiders for the past few months. But the final blog post by Windows Chief made the final build official. If you wish to avail the new Windows 10, go to Settings> Update & Security> Windows Update and select download to install the version 20H2.
The initial Windows 10 update earlier this year was a major breakthrough but this one seems to be a smaller deal with a few final touches to earlier one. This has become a Microsoft pattern where the initial release of the year brings in a bunch of new features but the later release refines the face of the initial updates.
New Windows 10 October Update: What To Expect?
The 20H2 version is supposed to come with new features like preinstalled Chromium Edge browsers, improved notifications and so on. The Windows 10 Start Menu is also likely to get a visual refresh. According to glimpses received from Microsoft testing, we know that the redesigned Start Menu will look cleaner and coherent than before.
Microsoft will remove the solid color backplates from the app logos in the start menu. Plus, the new Start Menu has a stylish and transparent look to it with both the dark and light themes.
By the following month, you’ll have the ability to use Alt+Tab through your Microsoft Edge tabs. Among other new Windows 10 October Updates, you’ll find a modernized Settings page. You can bid goodbye to your old Control Panel feature as those features will now belong in the modernized Settings tab.
If you own a two-in-one device, for example, a laptop with a detachable screen to make a tablet, then you will also find features like automatic switch to tablet mode when the screen is detached. You’ll also get a refurbished Your Phone app.
Other than these, users hope that the new Windows 10 October update comes with safe solutions to the bug issues found in the May update.
