Twitter Takeover: The Bird Takes Wings
On Thursday late evening Elon Musk put a seal on his USD 44 B Twitter Deal. The takeover was completed on the eve of the deadline set by the court. He was seen dilly-dallying the deal till the very last moment, before putting a stamp on it. The very first few decisions taken were to fire twitter’s Indian-origin CEO, Parag Agarwal, along with other top executives, Chief Financial Officer, Ned Segal, legal affairs and policy chief Vijaya Gadde were also fired.
As per sources Parag and Ned were at Twitter’s Head Quarter in San Francisco when the deal was signed and they both were escorted out.
Elon is convinced that Twitter will have a much bigger role to play in the civilization of the future where a common digital town square can be formed in which discussions on any subject can take place in a much healthy manner. without political interjections.
Elon Musk Says that he is afraid that social media is in great danger of splitting further into right-wing and left-wing echo chambers which will generate even more hate and further divide society.
One of the visions he has envisioned for Twitter is that he wishes to convert it into one of the most respected platforms for Advt.
Agarwal the outgoing CEO was appointed to the top chair only last year once the co-founder of the renowned social media site stepped down. Agarwal, aged 38 was well compensated. He was reportedly paid $38.7 Million. Segal received USD 25.4 M, Gadde is reported to have received USD 12.5 M, and Personette received USD 11.2 M, as per an inside source.
