Zendaya and Timothée Chalamet have returned for some more desert escapades.
In the initial teaser for Dune: 2, a follow-up to their blockbuster from 2021 that won six Oscars, the couple makes a comeback as Paul Atreides(Timothée Chalamet) and Chani(Zendaya). The cast of the film, which is once again directed by Villeneuve, now includes Florence Pugh, Léa Seydoux, Austin Butler, Christopher Walken, and multiple others.
Director Villeneuve Promises To Give More Time To Zendaya And Timothée Chalamet’s New Adventures
Dune’s second part would follow up on Paul Atreides’, played by Timothée Chalamet mythological adventure as he joins the Fremen and Chani during a rampage of vengeance against the plotters who killed his family. He tries to stop a horrific future that can only be seen by him, forced to choose between his one true love and destiny.
About half of the events in the book are covered in the previous film, which is a 1984 David Lynch adaptation of the 1965 novel by Frank Herbert of this name. In Dune: Part Two, Zendaya is anticipated to play a more significant part. Despite Dune’s approximately 2.5 hours of running time, Chani only had a little amount of screen presence in the previous movie, disappointing fans. However, director Villeneuve pledged to give more screen presence to some performers in the follow-up.
In 2021, Villeneuve said in a statement that there were certain characters that he had deliberately kept underdeveloped since he had been saving them for the second part, the process helped him find an equilibrium. He opened up about how the first part focused on Timothée Chalamet’s character Paul’s experience so that he could heighten the other characters in the next one.
The latest movie, according to Villeneuve, who is also known for Arrival, Blade Runner 2049, and Sicario, will “be another beautiful journey in the desert again,” he told in a March 2022 interview.
